Born in Columbia in1985, José Álvaro Osorio Balvin also known professionally as J Balvin, moved to Oklahoma, United States at the age of 17-years with his best friend Jesus Marulanda, to learn English. He moved to New York City to get more music experience and hone his English language skills. J Balvin began his career by singing in various urban clubs based in Medellin, Columbia. In 2012, he released a mixtape that featured his first hits in Colombia, ‘En Lo Oscuro’ and ‘Como un Animal’. J Balvin released another single in the same year called ‘Yo Te Lo Dije’. The track became famous in the United States in 2013, earning him a massive performance at the 2013 Premios Juventud. In 2014, J Balvin released another new track entitled ‘6 AM’, featuring singer Farruko. The song ‘6 AM’ re-ignited the current reggaeton revolution and picked a number 2 spot on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. J Balvin’s ‘La Familia’ album performed very well on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. He later solidified his mark on the Latin urban market music when he released his new track ‘Ay Vamos’ in the United States. The song scooped No.1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in 2015. He also did a remix of the song, which was used in the film ‘Furious 7’ featuring Nicky Jam and French Montana. J Balvin has been featured by other renowned artists in various projects such as ‘The Way’ and ‘Problem’ remixes by Ariana Grande, ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke, ‘Maps’ by Maroon 5, and ‘Stuck on a Feeling’ by Prince Royce. J Balvin won the 2015 Premios Lo Nuestro, in the category of ‘Urban Artist of the Year', ‘Urban Album of the Year’, ‘Urban Song of the Year’ and ‘Urban Collaboration of the Year’.
